Mother’s Day 2021
For Mother’s Day 2021, we were asked to create a graphic based on archetypical representations of the holiday. However, I wanted to explore how else we could visually represent Mother’s Day in a way that wasn’t so literal.
I started by deconstructing some of the geometric flowers I was working with for the more literal approach. When I deconstructed those elements, I noticed that they still had a floral feeling to them without being a literal flower. From there, I started putting them into different configurations until the final pattern was formed. The advantage of the pattern is that it can be used as the full pattern, just a section of the pattern, or even just a single shape from the pattern.
In the end, we went with the literal flower graphic for Mother’s Day, but I’m happy that I brought this direction forward as an alternative solution.
