Best Buy Teams Backgrounds
During COVID, as the team continued working from home, we were asked to create branded backgrounds for use in virtual meetings. Since these backgrounds were internal, there was an opportunity to break from the usual brand style and have some fun.
Working with a copywriter, we developed playful lines inspired by Best Buy’s company values:
Be Human: We all put our sweatpants on one leg at a time.
Think About Tomorrow: Even if you can’t remember what day it is today.
Make It Real: Just not like, too real.
Once the copy was finalized, I explored ways to push the typeface creatively by distorting certain elements. I also designed options without any copy that could function purely as backgrounds, which led to geometric shapes and layered stripe designs. The resulting set provided a flexible, playful, and visually engaging toolkit for internal Teams meetings.
